Krabbe disease, also known as globoid cell leukodystrophy, is an autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disease caused by the genetic deficiency of galactocerebrosidase , a lysosomal enzyme responsible for the degradation of several glycosphingolipids like psychosine and galactosylceramide.
