"The only material needed to produce a near-identical copy would be some intact cells or, to be precise, the nucleus of the champion horse's cells," says renowned biotechnologist Rajneesh Verma, of the Institute of molecular bioscience at Mahidol University in Bangkok. "The nucleus, which contains DNA, can be transferred to a recipient egg from which the nuclear DNA has been removed - in the same way that Dolly the sheep was created."
