One of the top medical universities in the world, the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, is planning to set up its first overseas research centre in Hong Kong. The university - which has awarded Nobel laureates in medicine or physiology since 1901 - is establishing the centre after local businessman Lau Ming-wai, chairman of Chinese Estates Holdings, made a donation of about HK$400 million to the project.
